DHEX

dhex is a more than just another hex editor: It includes a diff mode, which can be used to easily and conveniently compare two binary files. Since it is based on ncurses and is themeable, it can run on any number of systems and scenarios. With its utilization of search logs, it is possible to track changes in different iterations of files easily.

Release Notes: It is now possible to set a "base address" when loading a file. This makes working with partial memory dumps much easier.

Release Notes: This version adds the ability to search for quoted strings, rather than just single words, from the command line. It is now possible to set the color of the headers from the .dhexrc file. Moreover, the first and the second run of the program will have the same color scheme now.

Release Notes: Correlation between files in diff mode has been added, and a new default theme has been chosen. More bugs were fixed. Typographical errors in the man pages were fixed.

    Release Notes: Searching is now possible from the command line. This release comes with man pages for the program as well as the file formats used.

    but this little program grew out of necessity, and it became a very important tool for my job.
